Literature Groups
When we read novels in class, this is generally my nightly homework for students to complete to ensure that they are reading their books regularly. This holds them accountable. Each night they will have a different job. It is their job to complete the assignment, and return to class ready to share with their group. We have already done this once this year with the book Shiloh, but we will be doing it again during 3rd quarter!
Did You Forget What Your Job was?
Discussion Director: lead the discussion at your literature circle meeting. You will need to generate 3 deep discussion questions to ask at the meeting
artist: draw and color a scene or character from this selection of the book. At the discussion group, do not tell your group what it is a picture of. Let them first guess, then discuss why you think it is important.
Word Wizard: find four different words in the text that are either words you don't know or are words that you find descriptive or interesting.
Connector: Make connections between the text and another text, text to your life, or the text and the world.
Character Coach: Write a letter to a character giving her/him advice.
Summarizer: Write a paragraph to summarize your reading selection.
